The Nutcracker Tree

This sculpture took five weeks to complete (let me say that again - FIVE WEEKS). It was tedious, but the kind of tedious I like. As long as I can see something changing, I don't mind the minute work, and for this sculpture I literally got to watch the tree grow and grow. Probably the most nerve-wracking part of any of my Christmas trees is lighting them. Despite copper-wire fairy lights being light and very flexible, they still are fairly unruly and can damage the tree if I'm not careful. I am so delighted with the end result, however; it really gives me the feeling of wonder and magic that I still get every time I watch The Nutcracker ballet. I hope it inspires you with the joy and merriment of Christmas as well!
