About the Artist
My name is Brittany Sawrey, and I began crafting sculptures in 2016. It began, as most good fairytales, with a baby. Dear friends of mine were having a little girl, and I wanted to give her something particularly special, creative, and unique - the kind of thing a Fairy Godmother might give her. I discovered, and rapidly fell in love with, book sculpting. Hers was the first I ever made, and I haven't been able to stop since.
I truly believe that each of us are living our own incredible, one-of-a-kind story, and I love that through these sculptures I get to be a part of other people's stories. If you are looking for a unique gift, I would love to dream with you about what to create.
All of my sculptures are made from recycled books - I want to make sure they have been loved and read before they become sculptures. Each is unique and done entirely by hand. Many of my ideas come from stories and scenes I already love, but I often get suggestions, ideas, and requests from my wonderful clients and friends. I try to do everything entirely out of paper, but occasionally I will use wire or cotton to support particularly large structures.
